About Us
Northwest's Child was founded and established in 1990 for the specific
purpose of serving the out of school care needs of school aged
children, youth, and young adults with special needs and disabilities.
Northwest's Child is a non-profit, private program dedicated
to the mission of serving not only the day to day primary needs of each
student, but also the educational, social, and vocational needs of that
student as well. We work closely with each student's school program and
work off of the same IEP goals and objectives to provide the most
consistant programming possible.
Our teaching staff is experienced and well trainedto work
with a wide variety of needs, and our assistant staff are also well
experienced and work along side the head staff. We incorporate high
school volunteers to work with and interact with our students as
natural peers.
Northwest's Child runs 12 months out of the year, adjusting
to the school day and/or out of school time Monday through Friday. We
are contracted with both Childcare subsidies programs as well as
Division of Development Disabilities, Department of Health's Homecare
(MPC), and Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. Northwest's Child
does not discriminate against families, children, or anyone else based
on race, sexual preference, religion, color, ethnic background, or
handicapping conditions.
Northwest's Child Incorporated is dedicated to two people
who nurtured my acceptance and tolerance for others, encouraged my
compassion, supported my vision of a program that truly serves the
needs of our most vulnerable and deserving in our community, and taught
me to use a combination of a good sense of humor and determination to
succeed no matter what the obstacle...
